Where do I even start, the last few months have flown bye but at the same time it has felt like a life time, in all honesty work and the house took over not to mention sadly my failing health. But with the brighter evenings I feel the sunshine is helping me to remain as positive as I can, winter can sometimes feel so long that I had almost forgotten what it was like to be warmed by something that wasn’t my radiator. The third lock down was a toughie for me, a lot of uncertainty like so many around the world, having my house has been a true comfort and retreat.
As the down stairs of the house is slowly transforming from a drab, unloved neglected space me and Ben are doing our best to save money where we can and have taken to up cycling, well its new to Ben and that fills me with so much happiness, that we are being more conscious of consuming less and up cycling more. Sadly Ben’s Grandad passed away on Christmas day, which meant we were given a few lovely things from his own to welcome into our new house, many of these items had been in his home for nearly 60 years. We ended up with his TV cupboard, which now sits pride of place in our living room mirroring my bargain sideboard both Schreiber classics.
Even though the winter months (moving in 4th December) were cosy and I got to finally enjoy my own house but i giess when you move in December the evening were dark making it hard to work late, reducing what we could do, I mean don’t get me wrong I have been known to keep painting the walls well into 1am – 2am. When I’m on a roll, I’m on a roll! With the lighter morning and evenings comes more motivation to fit more into the day. As we haven’t yet done anything to the bedroom, we have broken blinds so as soon as the sunrises it floods in waking me up, it feels so much better waking up to sunshine rather than my alarm.
I can’t wait to get back into sharing and documenting our space, i feel it maybe slow at times and I might not have the most riveting things to say but there will be some lovely photos along the way. I am currently trying to revamp the back garden but also with an aim to have a doorstep cutting front garden, its a bit of a concrete slab jungle so can’t wait to share the process.
