As I have been having a lot more time in the evenings on my own, what with having full to the brim not yet emptied moving boxes I’ve taken to nightly library sessions from the comfort of my own arm chair. Reading for me is an escape an a way for my brain to throughly switch off. Don’t get me wrong half the time I’m still painting some part of the house late into the night unaware of the time. But when I do get the opportunity to look through my collection I relish the opportunity.
I stumbled upon my box of art books just by chance this evening, it was only earlier in the day I was searching youtube for pre raphaelite documentaries. Being a former fine art graduate (many moons ago now) its my go to form of art when I need inspiration, that or Van Gogh or Monet. In my own art it has to be richly coloured and after a trip to the National gallery as a child I was hooked on the highly detailed paintings.
I was trying to hunt out documentaries for interior inspiration truth be told, the living room has been gone in a deep blue and dusky light pink, I’ve been searching for pattern ideas and the fabrics that the Pre-Raphaelite delicately created are the styles and designs I am looking to replicate in a few lamp shades and pillows I wish to make.
